Focus on what you can control—and let go of the rest. We’ve all experienced a rude customer or coworker at some point. When it’s a regular occurrence, it wreaks havoc on your motivation and productivity.

While you can’t control the actions of others, you CAN control your reaction.

When you find yourself disrupted by a negative experience, try this:

1️⃣: Ask yourself, “What actions can I take to make a difference?”

2️⃣: Move those actions into a gathering point to process later and develop a plan.

3️⃣: Hit the reset button. Take a short walk. Watch a funny video. Move your attention away from negative thoughts.

4️⃣: If you failed, don’t beat yourself up. Look at it as a learning experience.

Focus on the “can” and let go of the “cannot.”
