Have anything fun planned?
That is typically my go-to question when trying to make small talk with people. It’s a simple question, but an important one.
Here in the U.S., summer just kicked off. The kids are out of school, the chiming melody of ice cream trucks sweeps through neighborhoods roughly three times per day, and the smell of backyard barbeque and sunscreen fills the air.
Wherever you are in the world, I hope you have something fun planned as well. After all, planning something fun is the theme of my upcoming book, The Power of Having Fun: How Meaningful Breaks Help You Get More Done. Think of having fun as a shimmering lagoon tucked inside a barren desert of spreadsheets and dress shoes. It’s your ‘oasis.’
An ‘oasis’ could be a getaway that you take annually or every few years. But it also can and should be something equally meaningful that you do daily on a smaller, more personal scale. It’s that half hour of Netflix or a ten minute walk. Having a little fun is exactly what you need to recharge your batteries and be the best leader, employee, parent, spouse, and/or friend you can be.
To promote the release of my new book, I’ve declared the month of July to be “Oasis Month”. Each Friday in July, I will release a new video that teaches you a new principle straight from the book. Look for the first one next week. I know these engaging videos will make a useful, meaningful, and lasting impact in your life.
As always, I can’t thank you enough for your continued support. If you have any interest in purchasing bulk packages of the book, please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org.
