“We don’t make mistakes. We make happy little accidents.” – Bob Ross. A famous quote by one of my favorite legends can be applied to more than a painting.
Bob taught that mistakes can lead to something great. They fuel creativity by forcing you to step back and make improvements you didn’t realize were needed.
When you make a mistake, don’t beat yourself up. Pause and ask yourself these questions instead:
1. Is the mistake useful?
2. Would a variation of this mistake be useful?
3. How can I prevent this from happening again?
By slowing down and pondering these three questions, what you thought was a mistake could be a happy little accident.
Sometimes we can even turn mistakes into strengths. I share how in my course on LinkedIn Learning, Turning Weaknesses into Strengths: davecrenshaw.com/weakness
