True leadership is about developing future leaders

What makes a leader productive? It’s about more than just management. The very best leaders do one thing consistently: They develop future leaders.

That’s right. It’s not just about delegating tasks and following up on accountability with your team. That’s part of it, sure. It’s just not the most important part.

Developing leadership should be your most valuable activity as a leader.

Pause for a moment, think of someone you lead, and ask yourself, “What’s one thing I can do this week to empower this person?”

Then schedule time to DO it. Your thoughtful attention can change a life…and the lives of the people that person will lead.

Have you ever worked under a productive leader? Who was it?
