Be honest: do your actions match your values? 🤔 During a dinner in New York with a mighty group of leadership thinkers—people I consider my friends—this question came up.

Ron Carucci discussed the importance of honesty, especially in leadership, in his new book, “To Be Honest.” He was kind of enough to share the following with me, Dorie Clark, Alisa Cohn, and Eric Shurenberg:

As a leader, when our actions don’t match our values and mission statement, we unintentionally encourage our team to lie to us. They learn to tell us what we want to hear, rather than the truth.
