Productivity Tip: Search for your own answers first. Then ask for help.

“Let me google that for you.” Ever said that to someone? Or has someone ever said that to you? Asking for help is great. But one pattern I see among successful people is that they first attempt to find their own answers.

When you do that, you learn more. Your mind is stretched. The answers you find are more meaningful and memorable. And if and when you do need to ask someone for help, you’ll be able to demonstrate to the other person that you put in a little effort first.

This principle doesn’t apply to just internet searches. The best approach to ANY question is to first seek your own solution.

So, the next time you have a question, try to reverse the process and search for the answer first.
