Two thousand zero zero party over. Oops, out of time…

Well, at least that’s what we all thought during the Y2K scare. Oh, you don’t remember Y2K? Just walk into your basement and look for a library of canned foodstuff.

OK, so the predictions of a “Terminator-esque” apocalypse were unfounded, but the instincts that prepare us for those “worst-case scenarios” are probably useful when it comes to our schedule. Can we use some of those survival instincts to alleviate workday stress? This short slice is about how non-perishable time storage can give you peace of mind when you’re focusing like it’s 1999.

Video transcript:

Part of effective time management isn’t just scheduling things in your calendar. It’s also being prepared for time emergencies such as a crisis.

We once had an experience that illustrated this: the city let me and my wife know that they were going to be shutting off the water to our house for several hours. We filled up pitchers of water so that we will be prepared when that happened.

Many people have their schedule so full that there is no room for error. They are not prepared when  unexpected emergencies happens. You want a schedule that holds water so to speak. And the way that you do that is by leaving empty space in your calendar, enough for when emergencies occur.

My question for you is simply—are you leaving enough empty space in your calendar? Please share that in the comments section below.

Also, if you have a question you’d like me to answer in a future video, ask that below as well.

Thanks for watching and may your schedule hold water.
