Heading into the New Year, entrepreneurs often reflect on ways they can get reenergized, refocused and raring to grow. That is, until chaos strikes after just a few short weeks in.

Today, I share the three areas for you to really resolve to increase productivity once and for all. Time to get your goals on track and in high gear. New year, new you!

The end of the year is a natural time for many people to think about their productivity and how they’re going to get more done in the coming years.

There are three areas that you can focus on to do this—space, mind and time.

With space, I am referring to your workspace, your personal organization. Is everything clean and organized?

With mind, I’m referring to how clear and focused your mind is, not filled with lots of random tasks.

And with time, I am talking about creating a structure in your week so you can focus on your most valuable activities.

    Thanks Dave for reminding me about your course. I will take the time out during the holidays to review it again. My biggest challenge is in space and mind.

  3. Hi Dave, these are always the challenges. Probably mind is a big one. Trying to balance a number of roles and managing more than one business results in trying to keep many plates spinning whilst at the same time thinking creatively about them all. Focus is my key!

      Thank you, Grant! Be sure to keep your mind clear. If any task pops into your head, immediately get it out and put it into an approved gathering point.

    Mind and time for me.
    I have taken your Time Management Fundamentals course, but I have fallen off the rails, so I’ve gone back to relying on my mind too much.
    I really haven’t got the hang of scheduling tasks in my calendar, because I struggle to estimate the time it will take to execute tasks.
    Sometimes I overestimate, but mostly I tragically underestimate!
    Do you have any suggestions or tips for improving my accuracy when estimating task duration?

    • Hi Andy. There’s nothing wrong with overestimating…in fact I encourage it
      So if you’re erring on the side of underestimating, start doubling your estimates. If you think something will take 1 hour, schedule two. If you get done early, then use the extra time for something small and productive.
