We have implemented a system at the beginning of employment where we have employees fill out a “likes” survey.  We utilize the answers to the survey to reward people over time with things that they “like” to celebrate successes, large and small.  This is the first year where I have done this and it has produced many more “thanks” than ever before.  The employees feel taken care of and appreciated since we are paying attention to them as individuals.

Last year we implemented a plan of offering two professional growth seminars for our staff and their guest each year.  Topics have ranged from things applicable to the specific job while other speakers focused on more general topics.  We also created a company library and have been impressed with the number of employees who check out books, DVD’s, audio CD’s on a variety of business topics.  We now need to focus on bringing more social connections into the workplace.  Thanks for the tips and guidance.
