Entrepreneurs know a thing or two about investments. Pouring time, money, and resources into your small business usually equates to value, right? Yet what about your employees? Are you reviewing their return on investment?

Are some of your employees being paid too much to do certain types of work?

Now, consider this for a minute: You hire someone, perhaps at a high value, like a manager. But overtime they end up doing low-value things like running small errands.

I am not saying this kind of work is beneath them. What I am saying is you’re just getting a bad return on investment.

In most small businesses, labor is the highest cost. So it’s important that we be very careful how we allocate those dollars.

One way to do this is by auditing your employee’s salary. Take a look at what everyone’s doing. Then compare that to the norm of what other people are paying for that kind of work.

So, I’d just like you to answer one simple question—do you feel you’re getting the value for what you’re paying your employees?
